Coaching for
Seasonal Affective Disorder
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is the name for a type of depression that occurs cyclically with the seasons. Currently understood as a response to lowering light levels it generally appears with the autumn, and resolves with the lengthening of the days in spring. You may have general depression that worsens in a predictable pattern, or have no experiences of depression in the summer months only to have it predictably return in the later half of the year. It can range from a mild but persistent case of low mood, right the way through to experiences of depression that make it difficult to function or start to impact relationships. In some extreme cases it can result in people having suicidal thoughts or thoughts of self harm. It can also make some other conditions such as PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) worse or harder to manage.
Counselling is one way of supporting individuals with SAD, however quite often a holistic approach to the disorder including light therapy, food and movement, socialisation, and activities as well as talking therapy can have the best results.
I offer coaching for SAD to help identify if this is what you're experiencing, talk through research supported options and solutions, provide tools and support you in building a personalised approach plan and if desired, mentor your progress.
